Leadership in Large Organizations

Currently, the term «leadership» echoes through the halls of large organizations, often proclaimed with ease. However, how much of this proclamation truly corresponds to the essence of leadership? It is crucial to question the trivialization of this word and explore beyond its superficial appearance because being a leader goes beyond the title and hierarchy.

It is undeniable that effective leadership is essential for organizational success. However, it has become common to see many self-proclaiming leaders without fully understanding the responsibilities that come with this role. The confusion between leadership and management is palpable, and the difference is significantly vast.

Being a leader is not about personal prestige or a position from which orders are issued. A true leader is someone who inspires, guides, and, above all, earns the respect of their followers.

A leader is not measured by the number of employees under their supervision but by the quality of the relationships they build with their team. Speaking on equal terms with any member of the organization, admitting one’s ignorance on certain topics, and understanding that it is not necessary to know everything are marks of an authentic leader.

It is crucial to recognize that a leader is not fueled solely by numbers and financial results. A leader cares about the people who make up the organization, understanding that human capital is the true driving force behind success. Empathy, active listening, and the ability to foster a collaborative environment are essential qualities.

Authenticity and humanity are lost in the pursuit of quantifiable goals. If we seek authentic leadership, we must look beyond titles and appearances, seeking those who, in practice, embody the values of leadership and lead their teams toward sustainable and meaningful success.

“Being a leader goes beyond a position; it is a business lifestyle based on authenticity, humility, and genuine connection with the people who make up the organization”.
